Hotspot New York City: Spice Market.
Spice Market is located in Meatpacking District in Manhattan. This restaurant is based and get’s it inspiration from street cuisine.
Mr. Vongerichten got inspired by street food while he was traveling in Southeast Asia. Spice Market’s menu is authentic and feels like family-style dining since the dishes are placed in the middle of the table to share. Each dish is a mix of Vietnamese street market or a Thai food stall. From regional fish sauces, curries and spices to dishes like chicken samosas with cilantro infused yoghurt, this menu has a lot to offer for everyone that loves Asian food.
The chef collaborated with designer Jacques Garcia for the styling of the interior. Imported interior object from Rajasthan, South India, Burma and Malaysia makes the experience in this restaurant even more inspirational. It’s a two-level space, with antique wall carvings, screens and pagodas. We can talk about the interior for hours but in a few words, it just looks like a 200-year-old Bombay Palace.
